I have received numerous enquires about the Observatory’s piano, an attractive, if clapped-out model that did several decades service in Pitlochry’s town hall. Alas, it is beyond repair. Recently, however, I have made good a long-held resolution to purchase a piano that works properly and can serve the needs of guests, be they seeking spirited sing-a-longs, or an instrument on which to play more seriously. It is a Hopkinson baby grand, manufactured, I am told, in 1979, and in single ownership since then. I will keep it regularly tuned and serviced, although can’t undertake that this will have taken place before any particular let, unless this is specifically requested.
