About

Unique self-catering holidays in Pitlochry, Scotland

The Observatory was built for astronomical purposes in 1906 to take advantage of the wide open skies and lack of light pollution. From inception it has also served as a comfortable family home in the country. It has broad views over Loch Faskally and the surrounding Grampian Mountains and is available for self-catering holiday rental. Over the years it has been used by dozens of playwrights, novelists and journalists as an inspirational place to work; by Scottish government ministers as a venue for discreet brainstorming meetings; by a prominent banker for family ceilidhs and by many others who are bewitched by its big space, outstanding views and wooded surroundings.

I use it myself for much of the year and offer it for rental at other times. You will find more information about The Observatory on this site – where there are lots of photos as well as information about Pitlochry and its beautiful surroundings.
